The Workman’s Boat Club in Irishtown, Clonmel held a very successful open day on the river last month.
The river was at a nice height and the current gentle as club members treated visitors to trips on the Suir. The Civil Defence river rescue team was present, as was a First Aid team to ensure safety was paramount.
There was something for everyone with a bric and brac and book sale, teas and coffees were served and there was a raffle, music and a barbecue. It was an introduction for many to the beauty of the river and the club’s facilities. The club was delighted with the response to its annual flag day held later that week and is grateful to everyone who contributed to the open day and flag days, and especially the traders who supported the Chernobyl fund raising project.
More information on the Boat Club is available from any of the committee or PRO Bernard Lennon on 086-2937220.
