CBS students’ achievements honoured

Carrick-on-Suir Christian Brothers Secondary School honoured its high achievers over the past year at a students awards ceremony at the end of the school year.

Carrick-on-Suir Christian Brothers Secondary School honoured its high achievers over the past year at a students awards ceremony at the end of the school year.

The ceremony at the school was attended by parents as well as teachers and students.

Gavin King was presented with the Senior Student of the Year prize and Nollag Brophy received the Senior Sports Person of the Year award while Alex Sheehan received the Junior Sports Person of the Year prize.

Transition Year students were presented with certificates in recognition of their achievements in a range of areas including enterprise competitions, Gaisce awards, IT qualifications and their involvement in the local community during the year.

Fourteen students were presented with bronze and silver medals they achieved in the President’s Gaisce Awards Scheme.

And members of the school’s Student Consultative Council presented a cheque at the function to the Chernobyl Children’s Project representative for Carrick-on-Suir Barbara Ryan.

CBS Principal Billy O’Farrell and Deputy Myles Mitchell paid glowing tribute to all the award winners at the ceremony.
