Carrick Red Cross welcomes 22 new recruits

Carrick-on-Suir Red Cross presented awards to its volunteers and welcomed 22 new youth members at a ceremony in Carrickbeg Community Hall this month.

Carrick-on-Suir Red Cross presented awards to its volunteers and welcomed 22 new youth members at a ceremony in Carrickbeg Community Hall this month.

The Red Cross branch’s annual awards night was attended by Mayor of Carrick-on-Suir Cllr Patsy Fitzgerald and Red Cross National Vice Chairman and Area Director Tony Lawlor and Red Cross Nation Youth Working Group Chairman Darren Ryan.

Uniforms were presented to the new youth members and special promotion awards were presented by Tony Lawlor to branch members.

They included Joanna Walsh, who received a 3 Chevrons award as Assistant Sub Unit Officer in the role of Ambulance Officer; Damian McNamara, who was awarded 2 Chevrons as Assistant Sub Unit Officer in the role of Deputy Ambulance Officer and Nicole Breen, who received a 2 Chevrons badge as Assistant Sub Unit Officer in the Cadet Section.

Ellen White and Sarah Dunne, who were absent from the ceremony, were awarded 2 Chevrons as Assistant Sub Unit Officers in the Cadet Section. Unit Red Cross Unit Officer Finola Walsh spoke of the value of the Branch’s investment in enhancing training and 1st Aid instruction and also in the new equipment to assist members to keep practice to the highest standards.
