Children at the Little Rascals Playgroup in Carrick-on-Suir met some exotic and native creatures when the Animal Road Show paid them a visit.

Snakes, a lizard, tortoise, rabbits, a tawny owl and a tenrek, which is similar to a hedgehog, were introduced to the children, who learned about their habitats and the food they eat.

The children impressively showed no fear when given the opportunity to touch and handle the creatures.

The Animal Road Show visited the playgroup after the graduation ceremony for the children, who will be progressing to primary school in September.

The children were each presented with certificates to mark their graduation from the playgroup. The ceremony was attended by proud parents, grandparents and carers.
