Clonmel Lions Club was recently presented with the Lions Club of the Year (Ireland) award for 2011/2012.
There are almost 120 Lions clubs on the island of Ireland, all doing wonderful work in their local communities, so to be awarded Club of the Year is a great honour and achievement for the members in Clonmel who have been active in the town and its environs for almost 45 years.
The club is probably best known for its Christmas Food Appeal but throughout the year they support many local charities and events such as the Dolphin Swimming Club, the Senior Citizens Tea Party, Cuan Saor Women’s Refuge, suicide awareness courses, Diabetes awareness and the Community Mothers Programme.
Some upcoming events to keep an eye out for include a Book Sale on Saturday, 14th April and Unique Boutique on the following Saturday, 21st April. The club’s annual Golf Classic will be held on Friday, 8th June.
As always the members are most appreciative of the generosity of the citizens of Clonmel and surrounding area to their fundraising appeals and with this assistance they look forward to continuing to serve the community for many years to come.
