Pre-school children in Carrick-on-Suir have received valuable but fun lessons in road safety.
The kids at Little Rascals Playgroup at Rackhill in Carrickbeg donned high visibility vests for the “Beep! Beep! Day” road safety course spearheaded by the South Tipperary County Childcare Committee and National Road Safety Authority.
They learned the essential rules of road safety through games, songs and stories while their parents received a leaflet of road safety information.
The road safety initative was first piloted in South Tipperary three years ago and staff from the Little Rascals Playgroup were among the first to receive training in teaching the programme to children.
Ger Bolan from South Tipperary County Child Care Committee visited the playgroup to see all the children’s work.
It has been a busy time for the children attending Little Rascals.
A few weeks ago they enjoyed a Zumba dancing class led by instructor Breda Kirby from Suir Zumba and it was such a hit that the playgroup plans to invite Breda back again.
