Cashel Schoolgirls U14 captain, Sarah Kate Delaney, a native of Ardmayle, has won the coveted U14 Player of the Year award for the 2012/13 season.
The award is chosen by the league’s referees and is based on consistent excellence throughout the regular season. Sarah Kate, who began secondary school only last week, easily met the award criteria with her on-field performances, as she was a stand-out player amongst a whole host of wonderful young talent.
A county soccer player at both U12 and U14, Sarah is a natural talent and is on course to push for honours at an even higher level in the near future. The club predict a very bright future for her, and wish her all the best for the rest of the season.
Cashel Town Schoolgirls FC, formed less than 18 months ago, are back in full swing in preparation for their second season in the Tipperary schoolgirls soccer league. The club is already the biggest in Tipperary, and will have even more teams competing this season as the league expands into U10 and U16 divisions as well as the U12 and U14s that was run last year. It will be a big challenge for the club but they are going to meet it and hopefully become even more successful. They are also branching out beyond Tipperary and will compete in the Munster U14 Cup in Cork in October, while the U12s will represent Tipperary amongst the best young teams in Munster in Limerick at the end of September. The club will be busy over the next few weeks, and are asking players to register as quickly as possible before September 6, before the big kick off on Sunday 15th. New players welcome, with under 10/12 training on Monday nights and u14/16 training on Thursdays, both in the Brothers Field on the Golden Road from 6.45pm to 8.15pm. The club ask for support from local businesses or individuals interested in helping out with sponsorship, so that we can provide the best for the girls. For information contact Liam 0876178013.
