The Tom O’Dwyer Scratch cup was played for last Sunday. This is one of the premier competitions on the pitch and putt calendar and as usual attracted players from all over Ireland.
In spite of the very poor weather almost seventy of the top players attended from all over the country.
Liam O’Donovan from Bruff both the current All-Ireland Strokeplay and World Doubles champion put in a fantastic display in the windy conditions scoring an incredible 18 under par after the first 36 holes. In the Final 18 hole playoff Liam’s lead proved to be insurmountable in the extremely windy conditions and he proved to be a very deserving winner.
Anthony Culhane Tipperary Hills finished second; followed in third place by Eddie Hennessy from Ashgrove in Waterford. Our own Darren McGrath put in a great performance to take the Final 18 prize. The Ladies section was won by Breda White Tipperary Hills; the Junior by Fionn O’Connor from Lakewood in Cork and the Intermediate by Mike Murphy from Riverdale Nenagh.
The competition could not have been a success without the generous sponsorship of many business premises in Cashel and the club extends its gratitude to all who made the day possible and an outstanding success.
Finally thanks to Alan, Denis and Joe for their work in getting the course ready for the day.
