Clonmel Councillor Joe Leahy has welcomed the news that a half-million Euro has been made available by the government specifically to tackle the issue of bullying in schools.

Cllr Leahy, who has organised two suicide awareness evenings in Clonmel and has also spoken out on the issue of bullying in the workplace, is very conscious of the devastation caused by bullying – in all its forms.

“Tragically, we have recently witnessed the devastating consequences of bullying” the local FG Councillor said.

“As a society, we all have to stand up and respond collectively – with children, teachers, parents, communities, authorities and the government all working together to tackle this issue. This funding is a significant step and hopefully will have a positive impact in dealing with bullying.”
