Be a mentor and make a difference

January is National Mentoring Month in the US, but closer to home, there are opportunities to volunteer in mentoring projects around the county.

The Le Chéile Mentoring Project has been based in the South East for the past 7 years, and matches volunteers from South Tipperary and Waterford with young people aged 12-18. Volunteers mentor young people and parents from all around their local area, meeting once a week for 2-3 hours.

By sharing fun activities, helping the young person to develop new hobbies and try new experiences, or just meeting for a chat, a mentor encourages positive choices, promotes high self-esteem and supports a young person through a difficult time.

Become a Mentor, and make 2014 the year you make a difference in a young person’s life.
