The winner of the Butler’s Bar Fethard Sports Achievement Award for February 2014 was Bridget O’Dwyer.

The winner of the Butler’s Bar Fethard Sports Achievement Award for February 2014 was Bridget O’Dwyer.

Bridget is the leader of the phenomenon ‘Operation Transformation’ which has taken Fethard by storm recently. At the last count she had 77 people signed up for her detailed fitness programme run on a weekly basis.

The award was presented on Friday night last at Butler’s Bar by local GAA personality and special guest Jimmy O’Shea. Jimmy retired from playing in 1974 and managed both the U21 and senior football teams for over 20 years. In this time as manager he won seven senior titles and reached two Munster finals, losing both to Cork teams. At Under-21 level he won two separate three-in-a-row titles, the first of which was winning both south and county titles from 1966 to 1968. Jimmy served as treasurer of Fethard GAA Club for sixteen years and chairman for three years.

The February award was sponsored by Cashel Motor Works.
