New Book

Cappawhite Book Committee wish to thank sincerely all members of the community for their contribution to the production of the book “Of People and Places”. To all who took the time to source photographs, to everyone who helped at our launch night and to our local shopkeepers for their help with sales in recent weeks.

Carmel is the big 40

Congratulations and best wishes for many more years is the wish of all to Carmel Clancy, Cappagh, who with all her family and friends had a big “get together” party in Coughlan’s on Saturday night last, January 18.

P.J. is 70

Birthday greetings were in order recently for P.J. McGrath, Bonera, who celebrated with family and friends in their local Jerry Jacks, many years of health and happiness P.J.

Munster Senior Camogie Final
On Saturday last in Pilltown, St. Josephs’ school camogie players beat Scoil Muire, Greenhills, 1-8 to 8 points. Shauna Quirke and Deabharla Hennessey, from Cappawhite, played a blinder as did the Anacarty girls on the team. Cheers and good wishes to the to teams and mentors on such a wonderful achievement. Best of luck to the football players who are playing a Munster Final in February and good luck to the camogie girls in the All Ireland Semi Final.

Recent Engagement

Congratulations to the happy couple who got engaged at Christmas, Maria Nash, Templederry, youngest daughter of Ita and the late Miah Nash, and John Valdiva, Spain. Health, love and much happiness to the happy couple.

Sincere Sympathy

To the Renehan family, Philipstown House, on the death of a dear mam, gran and greatgran, to her sons, daughters and all her extended family sincere sympathy is extended. Marion was interred with her late husband Desmond in the family grave in the old cemetery in Cappawhite.

Sympathy to Mary Foster (formerly Main St. and now in Montana) whose granddaughter Zoe Kern aged 3 died in an accident recently. Mary’s mam and dad built and ran the Maple Ballroom in the 1940s and 50s when some of the biggest bands in Ireland played there. Mary still comes back to visit friends in Cappawhite as did her brother Freddie before he passed away two years ago.

Sympathy to Joe McCarty and family Tinnahinch on the death of Joe’s sister Sr. Eileen, St. John’s Wood, London, who was interred with her community last week. May Jesus have mercy on their dear souls.

Eucharist Adoration

Continues in Cappawhite Church each Thursday from 10am to 10pm in the room beside the main porch. People are invited to volunteer for a specific hour each week. Others are welcome to visit and pray at any time during the day.

Epilepsy Ireland

Are holding their annual church gate collection at masses next weekend, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January. All support would be very much appreciated.

Cappawhite N.S.

A mass to mark Grandparents’ Day will be held in Cappawhite N.S. on Thursday, January 30, at 1.15pm. All grandparents and parents are invited to attend this special mass. Light refreshments will be served.
