Carrick AC’s Darren Prout and Miriam Daly set new records

Two Carrick-on-Suir AC athletes broke championship and national records at the All Ireland Indoor Championship in Athlone last weekend.

U-14 hurder Miriam Daly won the 60m hurdles with record performance sof 9.20 secs in in the final and 9.18 secs in the qualifying round.

She finished 4th in the long jump with a a jump of 4.60m.

The Club had two competitors in the Girls U-18 60m Hurdles.

Leanne Prout had a great win in a time of 8.98secs while Kellyann Doyle was 3rd in a time of 9.04secs.

Kellyann ran a brilliant 400m final to finish 2nd with a time of 57.60secs, a great performance by an athlete, who was out injuried for 10 weeks.

To round off the weekend, U-18 athlete Darren Prout competed in the Triple Jump and broke the record set by Niall Counihan in 2007 with a jump of 13.96m.

U-15 athlete Aoife Doyle also had a great championship where she finished 4th in her long jump with a Personal Best jump of 4.69m.

She was 4th in the 60m hurdles final.
