Gardai probe Clonmel house fire and drugs seizure

Gardai believe arson was the cause of fire at a vacant house in the Carrigeen estate in Clonmel last weekend.

The fire at No. 17 Carrigeen was reported around 10pm on Sunday. There wasn’t anybody in the house at the time.

A spokesman for Clonmel Garda Station said they were investigating the blaze and believe it was started deliberately.

The Garda spokesman appealed to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of this house on Sunday night to contact Clonmel Garda Station.

In a separate incident, Gardai arrested an 18 year-old man in the past week in connection with the seizuire of a small quantity of cannabis at Parnell Street in Clonmel. He was subsequently released and a file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
