Merger will be judged on services

The success of the merger of the Tipperary County Councils will not be measured by who is elected but by the services available to people.

Cllr Tom Wood has called for the council staff in Cashel to be facilitated when the offices in the town close, as part of the changes to follow May’s elections. Cllr Wood said the staff in Cashel have been dedicated to the town and they worked well with elected councillors and the public. “The success of what happens in the next couple of months will not be looked at by the electorate by who is elected but how the services people get throughout the area are made available to them.” Cashel staff have knowledge of the area and people, he said, asking the county manager to keep as many as possible in the area.
