Plans are being made to construct a new footpath in Clonmel, one that would restore an old traditional walking route still used by many residents.
Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr. Pat English proposed a motion at the March meeting of Clonmel Borough Council to provide a footpath from the entrance to Hillview Sports Club to the Mayor’s Walk.
Borough Engineer Jonathan Cooney said there is an existing footpath on the eastern side of this roadway, within the Borough boundary, and that contact would be made with Waterford County Council in relation to constructing a footpath along the Mountain Road, on the western side from Hillview, to the Mayor’s Walk.
The footpath will only be beneficial if it is constructed the full length of the route, which is approximately 280 metres, Cllr English was told.
