Rise in planning application in Carrick-on-Suir

The number of planning applications lodged with Carrick-on-Suir Town Council increased for the first time last year since the recession began.

In a sign the economy is beginning to pick up, Carrick Town Council reported in its 2014 draft budget document that the number of planning applications it received in 2013 was 24, which is 11 more than the 13 applications lodged with the Council in 2012. The Council’s statistics show a total of 85 planning applications were submitted to the Council in 2008 but the number of applications dropped to just 46 in 2009 and 26 in 2010.
