Willie O'Neill and Padraig O'Dwyer,?ire ?g, making things difficult for Cappawhite defender Ross Dunne in Tipperary Co-Op Super Valu West SHC game in Cashel last Sunday.

Eire Óg Annacarty survived a great rally by Cappawhite to claim all the points in their West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship game at Leahy Park, Cashel on Sunday afternoon, winning 3-11 to 1-14.

They saw their half-time lead of 13 points wiped out in the course of the second-half as Cappawhite drew level with a Jerry O’Neill point in the 27th minute. Then they got a lifeline in the shape of a giveaway goal when Seanie Ryan exploited a mix-up between the goalkeeper and backs to send the ball to the back of the Cappa net. It stopped the rot and Eire Óg went on to win by three points.

Eire Óg did everything right in the first half but found it very difficult to deal with the wind and a resurgent Cappawhite after the interval. They were lucky to come away with a win. While not as dominant as in his previous game, Tom Fox made a major contribution. Others to impress were Conor O’Brien, Richard Ryan, Michael O’Dwyer, Brian Fox and Padraig O’Dwyer.

Cappawhite have to be very disappointed that their momentum in the second half didn’t carry them on to victory. Ger Ryan (P), Tom Treacy, Jerry O’Neill and Johnny Ryan (P) impressed.
