Carrick clubs in South Tipperary hurling action
Both Carrick hurling clubs are in action this weekend.
Two second round games in the South Tipperary senior hurling championship will be played on a Monroe double bill on Saturday evening and they should attract a large attendance to this popular venue. Both Carrick sides will be in action with Davins tackling Killenaule in the opening contest at 5 p.m. and Swan opposing Ballingarry at 6-30 p.m.
Killenaule were most impressive when scoring 3-20 against Swan in the opening round and they will be confident of gaining a second success against Carrick opposition. When the sides met in the league stages a year ago Killenaule romped to a 3-21 to 0-8 win but the Carrick men went on to reverse that result by shocking their opponents by 0-14 to 1-9 in the semi-final. Although the Carrick team has lost a few leading players they have prepared well for this their opening championship clash of the year and should put it up to their rivals in what should prove a very interesting contest.
The pressure is already under Swan after their dismal opening against Killenaule and they will be hoping to bounce back against Ballingarry.
Last year only two points separated the sides after a fine game and patrons can expect another closely contested tussle between two teams who have served up some fine contests down the years.
