Declan Browne hits 0-14 as dominant Moyle Rovers retain title in style

Moyle Rovers 1-20 Fethard 2-5

Declan Browne and Peter Acheson were in top scoring form as Moyle Rovers retained the South IHC title with a big win over Fethard at Cahir on Sunday evening.

Former football All Star Browne hit 0-14 with Acheson scoring 1-3.

Following the game, South Board chairman Dick Egan presented the Jerome O'Dwyer Cup to captain Martin Dunne to a great cheer from the crowd

Rovers opened the scoring with an Acheson goal. Declan Browne quickly added a point. Christopher Sheehan opened the scoring for Fethard with a point and Collin Allen pointed from a free.

Martin Dunne quickly replied with a point for Rovers. Acheson added another point before Michael Spillane pulled on a loose ball on the edge of the square and sent it to the back of the net.

With nearly 20 minutes played the score line was now Moyle Rovers 1-3 Fethard 1-2. Acheson added another point to his tally. Declan Browne scored two more points, one from play and one from a free. Acheson scored another point to put Rovers four points ahead. Colin Allen replied from a free for Fethard.

Browne replied with two more points while Allen hit another point from a free to leave the half time score Moyle Rovers 1-9 Fethard 1-4.

Declan Browne opened the second half with a point from a free but Brian Coen quickly replied with a point Moyle Rovers then scored four unanswered points, two from Sean Carey and two from Declan Browne, one a free. Again a loose ball was converted to a goal for Fethard, this time by Declan Doyle, but this was the Blues' last score of the game.

Moyle Rovers dominated proceedings in the final quarter as they drove on scoring six unanswered points, all from Declan Browne, four from play and two from frees.
