Ryan saves help see St Patrick's into final

South JHC 'B' semi-final

St. Patricks 1-12

Cahir 1-11

On Wednesday evening last St. Patricks qualified for the South Tipperary Junior B Hurling final by virtue of a one point victory over Cahir in Fethard.

The teams were evenly matched and it was tit for tat all through the game with the mix of youth and experience for St. Patricks a key factor while the younger Cahir side will rue some wides and other missed chances. At half time the scoreboard read 1-7 each.

Cahir put on the pressure in the second half and would surely have emerged victorious only for the performance of Declan Ryan in the St. Patricks goal as he brought off several fine saves early in the second half. A feature of the game was the free taking of Dean Lonergan for Cahir and Noel Brett for St. Patricks.

At times the exchanges were over robust and referee Michel McCormack produced the yellow card on a few occasions while players on both sides were fortunate not to have seen red for some over enthusiastic use of the hurley.

Scorers: St. Patricks: Noel Brett 1-7, Stuart Broderick 0-3, Chris Foley 0-2.
