Swan beat Davins in Carrick-on-Suir hurling derby
Michael Coady (Swan) and Mickey Loughman (Davins) clash in the Carrick derby on Sunday won by Swan to qualiy for the South SHC semi-final.
The Carrick on Suir senior hurling derby is one of the highlights of the year in the South Tippeary GAA calendar and last Sunday’s instalment at Davin Park matched the best
It lived up to its billing with a fine crowd, good weather, great hurling, man to man battles, a terrific atmosphere and fast free flowing skills in abundance with the honours and bragging rights going to Swan with a 2-8 to 0-14 win over Davins.
The Swan goals came from Danny O’Hanlon and Anthony )’Donnell with Dwayne Fogarty chipping in with three points.
Jj Butler was top scorer for Davins with seven points, six from frees.
Swan led by a point, 1-7 to 0-9 at half time.
Swan have now booke a place in the South Semi Final against Killenaule - the other Semi sees CJ Kichams Mullinahone v Ballingarry while Davins are out in the first round of the county v Lorrha Dorrha on July 1.
Best on the day for Swans were Tom Kennedy, Gerry Walsh, Darren Fahey, Stephen Hahessy, Dwayne Fogarty and Anthony O’[Donnell while for a gallant Davins, Lee Mackey, Richie McGrath, Noel Butler and JJ Butler were very much to the fore,
