Busy time for Clonmel High School rugby teams

U19 O’Brien Cup

The senior team had an easy win over Colaiste an Chraoibhin, Fermoy in their opening O’Brien Cup match.

They must now travel to Killaloe to play St. Anne’s in the next round, which will take place on the week of November 14. Training is going well at the moment and the team is keen to make a serious impression on this year’s competition.

U16 King Cup

The High School junior team were narrowly defeated by Tarbert Community School in their opening King Cup game.

Two mistakes in the first half gifted Tarbert two soft tries to leave the score 17–0 at the break. The High School staged a comeback in the second half with tries from Johann Oosthuysen and Luke Noonan, but ran out of time and lost by two points. The junior team will now compete in the Giles Shield which will commence shortly.

U15 Abbey Blitz

The U15 team travelled to Tipperary to take part in the Abbey blitz. In a very enjoyable morning, the High School played Cashel Community School and two Abbey teams. There were some very good performances on the day which is encouraging as the team will participate in the Cleary Cup after Christmas. Training continues every Monday and Friday after school.

First Year Blitz

The High School hosted a 1st Year blitz in Clonmel RFC on Wednesday, October 24. Teams from Waterpark College, Newtown, Villiers and Youghal attended. There were some great displays of attacking rugby and everyone enjoyed the day. Training continues every Monday and Friday after school.
