Bakers Bar in Parnell Street, Clonmel opens its live music programme in its brand new extension with the wonderful singer Cathy Davey on Thursday, September 26, with tickets on sale now at only €15 from Hearns Hotel reception.
Cathy Davey has just finished recording her fourth studio album at a pop-up studio at the National Concert Hall and she is previewing songs from her new album during a small tour of her favourite intimate venues in Ireland. She will be playing new songs and all her old favourites from her last three albums, including The Nameless, a number one in Ireland.
Her debut album Something Ilk was a gorgeous collection of songs both sultry and sweet, with melodies that soared and guitars that buzzed, drawing comparisons to PJ Harvey.
In 2008 she released Tales of Silversleeve, with two hit singles in Sing for your Supper and Reuben. Silversleeve won Cathy a Choice Music Prize nomination and the Meteor Award for Best Irish Female.
Silversleeve, which went on to achieve double-platinum status, as also placed in the Irish Times’ Top Ten Albums of the Decade - the only woman and the only Irish artist to feature.
