A brainstorming meeting organised by Carrick-on-Suir Cancer Care and Share was held in the Nano Nagle Resource Centre recently. The large number of people in attendance pooled resources together for the voluntary community support group, which reaches out to help those directly or indirectly affected by cancer.
There are now two counsellors on board, reflexologists, reiki therapists, beauty therapists, a wig advisor, a specialist in prosthesis measurements, and a cognitive behavioural therapist. All of these treatments and advice are available free of charge to anyone who wishes to avail of them. Flyers promoting the services are available in retail outlets, doctors surgeries and community centres.
Founder of Carrick-on-Suir Cancer Care and Share Mary Hickey thanks everyone who has helped the group, from providing venues for fundraisers, attending and supporting the events, sponsoring prizes for raffles, musicians for their lively backup at events, the Nano Nagle Resource Centre voluntary staff for providing a room for the group, voluntary therapists, committee members, and photographer Patrick Lyons for all his work.
