Excitement is building as Tipperary Library Service’s Summer Book Bus takes to the road again this July and August.
Children will be welcomed onboard to join the library and explore its wonders. If they are already members, just come along and choose books from exciting collections.
Each child will be invited to register for the Summer Star Reading Adventure while aboard. They will be given a Summer Stars Reading Card to record their progress, with rewards and incentives along the way. The book bus provides equal opportunity to all children to take part in this exciting adventure and to have access to a diverse choice of books to fulfil all needs. Invitations will be extended to them to attend an awards event at one of the local libraries in September, when they will be presented with their own Summer Stars Certificate.
Membership is free and young children must be accompanied by an adult. Book stock is suitable for children up to 14 years of age. If your child has special or additional reading needs, please contact Ellen Kilmartin on 0761066100.
“We are encouraging as many families as possible to bring their children along to avail of this golden opportunity to keep their reading skills up over the summer. The benefits are huge and past experience highlights the enjoyment and fun the children have each year with our Summer Book Bus. It also provides an invaluable service to families who may not live in close proximity to a library,” a Tipperary Library Service spokesperson says.
The book bus for Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir has been supported by the South Tipperary Development Company. Summer Book Bus locations include Clogheen Community Centre every Tuesday from 10:30am - 12:30pm from July 10 - August 14; Mullinahone Health Centre car park every Tuesday from 2:30pm-4:30pm from July 10 - August 14; 27 Comeragh View, Carrick-on-Suir every Thursday from 10:30am-12:30pm from July 12 - August 16; Clonmel’s Elm Park Community Centre every Thursday from 2 - 4pm from July 12 - August 16; and Newport Community Centre every Wednesday from 10:30am - 1pm and 2 - 4pm from July 11 to August 15.
