A ten year old Tipp hurling fan,who just happens to have the same name as one of the hurling greats, had a fantastic day out at Semple Stadium last Sunday.
This Eoin Kelly lines out for Arravale Rovers rather than Mullinahone, and he was a guest of honour at Semple Stadium on Sunday as a mascot after winning the privilege when his name was pulled out of the Tipperary Suppoerters Club draw.
Eoin marched out onto Semple Stadium with Tipperary captain Brendan Maher, posed for the official Tipp team picture and stood in beside the captains and referee before the throw in.
“He had a great day out“ said his father Raymond, whose wife Carmel entered Eoin and his two brothers David (12) and Kieran (6) in the draw.
“We are all big Tipp hurling fans and Eoin had a marvellous day out.It was a great occasion for the family” said Raymond.
Raymond said that Eoin often gets slagged about having the same name as one of Tipp’s hurling legends but he does not mind being compared to his more famous namesake.
“He got to meet all of the players, he was absolutely thrilled and Tipp won as well, it was the perfect day,” said Raymond.
