A few showers early in the day could not dampen the spirits of those who came to enjoy the Fair of Cahir 2014 in association with ‘Beat on the Street’ and Beat 102 103.
The Beat Fleet did a fantastic job of roaming the town with freebies, ponchos, tasty food samples for all and they certainly kept up the excitement levels on the day!
Although the weather was predicted to be bad, the sun came out in the afternoon just in time for the live Bands playing on stage in the Square.
The Funday Sunday in the Inch Field went off well with local stalls providing food and drinks and a crowd attending the ever popular Dog Show and the Tug Of War and the kiddies entertainment both in the car park and Inch Field went down a treat too.
As usual the Boat Race drew huge crowds along the river banks that then ran down to the Inch Field to meet the winners. Congratulations to The Punters Rest team who came first and also to ‘The Sod’ Boat from New Inn who won ‘Best Boat’ on the day.
The stage in the Square rocked away all afternoon with ‘Beat on the Street’ and bands Hogan and Vann Music were met with great enthusiasm.
The Queens Contestants went on stage at 6pm and were interviewed by stand-in MC, Cllr. Andy Moloney who added a bit of entertainment to procedures and after much deliberation from the current Pride of Tipperary, Tracey Barron, 2013 Pride, Donna Breen, 2012 Pride Aoife O’Meara and Pride of Tipp Organiser, Laura Moore, a Queen of the Fair 2014 was announced to much applause and the largest crowd of the day.
Congratulations to Lauren Enright who was sponsored by Dolans Supervalu who was crowned the Queen, Katie Condon sponsored by Spar who came second, Maureen Murphy sponsored by The Heritage who came third and all of the Contestants who represented their sponsors so well.
