The 2013 ‘It’s a Long Way to Tipperary Festival’ was launched in great style in front of the Tipperary Co-Op, the main sponsors, on July 4.
The public joined in the spirit of the launch by dressing in vintage clothing and on stage, counsellors, deputy Mayor Cllr. Billy Bourke and representatives from the Tipperary Co-Op, including Chairperson Mattie Quinlan watched the festivitites.
“We’re delighted that the Tippeary Co-op are the sponsors of the festival. We believe in the locality, we belive in the town and I hope that the people of Tipperary support the festival,” said Mattie Quinlan. The official opening ceremony started with a reception in the Tipperary Co-Op with a blessing from Fr. McGrath before the sweet tunes by the C.J. Kickham Brass & Reed band enticed the crowd outside.The National Churn Racing event will be held this Saturday. On Friday, July 12, a food and craft fair takes place between 10am and 4pm
