Clonmel-based company Trustwater Ltd has won the prestigious ‘Innovation of the Year’ Award at The Irish Times InterTradeIreland Innovation Awards 2013, which was held at a ceremony last week.
The Tipperary firm, owned by local business man Edmond O’Reilly is a market leader of alternative cleaning and disinfection solutions and has spent the last ten years developing innovative applications with wide-spread use in the Food and Beverage and Healthcare markets.
For this award entry they showcased their unique system for Beverage plants that dramatically reduces energy and water use.
More than 300 initial registrations were received in this year’s awards and over 140 detailed entries were reviewed by an initial panel of judges from the world of academia, media and business. The 18 shortlisted entries initially presented their innovations before a separate panel of judges in Dublin before the final awards ceremony on Friday.
The winning entry took first place in the GreenTech Innovation category and went on to compete against the five other category winners to win the overall ‘Innovation of the Year’ award.
Trustwater will receive amongst other prizes a communications and advertising package from The Irish Times worth €150,000 and a UCD scholarship for an Executive Education programme commencing in 2014.
