Ideas needed for the future of club

St Mary’s Hurling Club

St Mary’s Hurling Club

St Mary’s has grown hugely over the last decade not only in terms of the number of juveniles joining our club but also in terms of our success in every grade from Juvenile upwards. We now compete in A grade at all levels. Two years ago with our sister club we developed our facilities in the field. As a growing club we need to plan for the future in terms of players coaches, facilities and communication with our members. To this end we are planning to consult with parents, players, coaches and club members. To facilitate this there will be an open forum organised towards the end of November to gather people’s views. We are appealing to everyone who has an interest in the future of St Mary’s to get involved so keep an eye on this space. Details as to date, time and location we hope to have by next week

Now that we have entered the winter season our juveniles who train each Saturday morning in the field move indoor to the Cashel Road complex. Along with it providing guaranteed training no matter what the weather it also ensures our young players get to have more ball contact in tighter spaces. Since our club took this initiative some twelve years ago we have had significant success at juvenile level. Hurling is such a skilled game it needs practice throughout the year.
