Clonmel Og U14 hurlers recorded a great win over Fethard on Thursday August 1 in Ned Hall Park.
After opening up a healthy lead early in the game, Fethard came back strongly to cut the deficit to a few points in a high scoring first period. The second half was much tighter and we held on for a three point win. Well done boys!
Congratulations to the U12 hurlers who came through a great game against Cahir on July 30 in Ned Hall Park. We led by 4 points at half time thanks to a Cathal McGuigan goal, but Cahir came out with all guns blazing in the second half and cut the deficit to a point with 5 minutes remaining and were causing us all sorts of problems.
However, Jack Houlihan made two great saves in quick succession, and Thomas Hickey landed a huge free to ease the pressure. Seanie Fitz’s late goal secured the win. This was another very good team performance but there is still considerable room for improvement. Well done all concerned!. The junior hurlers play Skeheen’ in the South Quarter Final in Goatenbridge at 19.00 on Friday. This will be a huge battle and Skeheen’ will start as favourites. Nonetheless, we are well prepared and are looking forward to the challenge. Best of luck all concerned.
The ceremony to mark the opening of the new dressing rooms will commence at 18.30 on Saturday August 10 followed by a Senior Football match for The Jim Cleary Cup between Clonmel Og and Rathcormack at 19.30. There will a social gathering in the Centre after the game. A collection will take place during the evening in aid of The South Tipperary Hospice Movement. Let’s make this a night to remember and to honour the memory of the great Jim Cleary. All members past and present are invited to attend and be part of what promises to be a great night.
