St Mary’s Under 16s were crowned South Champions last week having defeated local rivals Moyle Rovers in the final at Ned Hall Park. It was a pulsating match in which no quarter was given, and both teams served up a wonderful display of hurling. We won out by four points in the end, but it was a very close contest throughout. All present will agree that Ross Peters was outstanding on the day. Well done to all panel members, coaches and back room mentors on a great season.
We played the county semi-final in Templetuohy last Saturday against Nenagh. We again gave a great performance, but in the end we lost out by six points, 2-12 to 2-6. Well done to all concerned.
Our sympathies are extended to the O’Mahoney family, Cherrymount on the death of Mick. Mick played for the club in his youth and was a former chairman. His sons have made major contribution to St. Mary’s, Paul and Noel play and have made valuable contributions as coaches to our juveniles.
We offer our sympathy and condolences to club stalwart, Seamus Leahy, on the recent death of his sister, Maire Driver of Yewstown, Nenagh.
We also extend sympathies to Joe Nolan and family on the death of his mother Mary in Kilkenny last week.
May they all rest in peace.
As a mark of respect following Mick O’Mahony’s death, the club asked the county board to call off our county quarter final against Rockwell Rovers. This may be scheduled for this weekend, keep an eye on our face book page.
The lads have a championship match next Saturday in Cahir.
