Clonmel Commercials intermediates impressed on Sunday when accounting for Grangemockler in the final group game of the South Championship and reaching the semi-final, 3-9 to 2-6
With a solid second half performance, the 6 point winning margin didn’t flatter Commercials.
Trailing by a single point at the break and losing Eric Walsh to injury, an improvement was required. This improvement arrived in the second half and gradually Commercials took control of the game.
The half time break saw the introduction of Stephen Kelly in place of the injured Eric Walsh and Fergal O’Callaghan replacing Emmett Ryan at centre forward. O’Callaghan’s introduction worked very well as his experience showed in the half. Eoin Leahy goaled 10 minutes from time to open a gap on the scoreboard and Commercials finished strongly, securing their semi final spot. The semi-final against Fr.Sheehy’s is fixed for Wednesday night next at a venue to be confirmed.

U 8 and U10 Girls
Congratulations to the Passage Club on organising a wonderful event for Under 8 and 10 girls, with 64 teams in action over 15 fields.
Commercials girls were excellent and both teams finished the day unbeaten. The important factor of the day was fun and the girls had plenty of this and were in great spirits all day. The day began with a parade, which consisted of two bands and almost 1,200 girls who were joined by parents and coaches from the various clubs.
The games got underway at exactly 11.30am and ran off smoothly over the next three hours. There was a hive of activity and first into action for Commercials were the under 10’s who beat Clonakilty in their opening game. The under 10’s went onto beat Inch Rovers before drawing with the host club. The under 8’s defeated Nemo Rangers in their opening game before going on to beat Douglas and Inch Rovers in their remaining two games.
Well done girls and a huge thank you to the parents who travelled and the coaches who continue to do great work with these girls.
The next draw will be held in The Local on Saturday night 14th September, 2013 with a jackpot of €2,200 available.
The numbers for the last draw were 8, 10, 11 & 27 with no outright winner. 2 matched 3 numbers and they were Donal Kennedy and Anne O’Dwyer, who share €200.00
Fortnightly tickets are available for €2. Alternatively for a fee of €25 you can join for 6 months or €45 for a year’s subscription. Tickets and brochures are available from committee members and players of both clubs.
