A new guide to events taking place in Clonmel over the Christmas period was launched at South Tipperary Arts Centre.
District Mayor Andy Moloney complimented all involved in the production, which he said was a first of its kind for Clonmel.
He said it was a very informative publication which includes details of community events, markets, music in local pubs, children’s activities and a range of other activities taking place in the town over the coming weeks.
The What's On Guide is a project under the Clonmel Town Centre Initiative, prepared by a voluntary subgroup of the Clonmel Town Marketing Team, and lists the exceptionally large number of events and activities that will be held over the coming weeks in the lead-up to and beyond the Christmas period.
Kate O’Mahony, of Forget Me Not and The Wine Buff, and Majella O’Gorman from Fieldmaster were the two lead people involved in developing the concept.
At the launch Kate complimented the spirit of community and support in the town from the local traders, community groups and the County Council in the efforts put into the development of the guide.
She also thanked Dave Shanahan, CEO of Clonmel Chamber of Commerce for his design of the guide and Maureen Purcell for the use of the Arts Centre.
Majella said that the guide was now available in shops, restaurants and public venues in the town and hinterland.
Over 8,000 copies had also been distributed to homes in and around Clonmel and she said it would be a significant support to households as they plan their Christmas activities, seeing at a glance what is available to them in their town during the festive period.
