The busy and triumphant couple of months the club has enjoyed has led to Toastmasters claiming that it's officially the most successful club in Clonmel.

The club held its annual Humorous Speech competition at the end of September, which was won by Bríd Meighan, a member for less than two years.

Brid continued her successful run in the Area 8 and Division D contests, which paved her way for the District 71 International Ireland and UK Humorous Speech competition in Sheffield in early November. Here the winners from all other divisions within District 71 in Ireland and the UK met to compete for the overall title of Ireland and UK International's Most Humorous Speaker.

As one of ten contestants Bríd impressed with a speech titled “Surviving our Baby”. The standard she was up against was supreme, and although she didn’t get placed in the top three she gave a fantastic performance and did herself and the club proud. What an achievement it was to reach such a final, particularly for her first attempt in this contest.

Bríd was not alone in her success, as the club had another member who, after impressing as the contest chair in the Division D final in Clonmel in October, was invited to be contest chair at the District 71 International Ireland and UK Humorous Speech competition in Sheffield.

Michael Maunsell did an excellent job, displaying the height of professionalism in taking the top job at the weekend. Bríd and Michael certainly put Clonmel Toastmasters on the map at the conference with the way they performed and the club is immensely proud of both members.

Clonmel Toastmasters meet every second and fourth Thursday of each month in Clonmel Park Hotel at 8pm. Guests are always welcome to come along to see what it is all about and join in the fun.

If you would like to find out more why not come along to one of the meetings or check out the website www.clonmeltoastmasters.com or see the club's Facebook page.
