Jim Riall retires after 25 years dedicated service

After 25 years of sterling and dedicated service to the Dundrum community and other parishes around West Tipperary the time has come for Community Employment Scheme supervisor Jim Riall to retire and he will be greatly missed by, not only by his scheme participants who under his guidance have carried out all those duties, over 400 have taken part in those 25 years, but all of the parishes, associations, clubs and individuals that have benefited greatly from his passion and willingness to get stuck in even when resources were scarce and see each project through to completion. Our villages and their environs are much the better for all their hard work.

As a testament to the esteem that Jim is held in, a large crowd gathered in the Venue on Friday night last for his retirement function.  We were regaled with some humorous stories of “bonding sessions” and other escapades. There were also many heartfelt tributes from near and far to a true “community man”.

We all wish Jim and his wife Margaret a long and happy retirement back home in Co. Limerick and he knows that they are very welcome back in West Tipperary and particularly Dundrum anytime they want to call. Thanks again Jim. As one era ends another begins and we all wish the new Supervisor Margaret Burke the very best in her future endeavours. No pressure Margaret!
