Tipperary roads remain treacherous as snow continues to fall

Snow covered Western Road in Clonmel today - normally one of the town's busiest thoroughfares.

Roads throughout Tipperary remain treacherous as show continues to fall.

The county woke up to a blanket of snow and the snow hasn’t relented all day.

Roads that were already dangerous are even moreso now with the new compacted snow.

The advise is – don’t drive unlessd absolutely necessary.

And that advice appears to have been heeded.

Heywood Road in Clonmel at the junction with Western Road.

Clonmel and most other population centres have been ghost towns all day, with the only people out the children making snowmen and walkers enjoying the crisp air.

And the latest is update from AA Roadwatch remains the same.

They say as of 4pm today – Conditions are extremely poor across Tipperary due to heavy snow, including on main roads around the towns of  Thurles, Nenagh and Clonmel.

Many routes across the county are impassable. There are blizzard-like conditions in Cahir and Templemore which is affecting visibility.
