Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society members stage "Into The Woods" this week

Storm Emma forced Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society to postpone the opening gala performance of "Into The Woods" planned for last Saturday night but the show went on a night later.

The Society's singers, dancers and actors premiered their production of the hit Broadway musical on the stage of the Strand Theatre on Sunday night and the show will finish its run this Saturday as scheduled.

People who purchased tickets for last Saturday night's show have been accommodated on other show nights this week or offered a refund.

The newly elected President of the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) Seamus Power was the Musical Society's special guest at the gala night. He is the first ever member of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society to hold the position.

Seamus presented the “President’s Award Trophy” to Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society President, Siobhan Grace-Regan, who accepted the award on behalf of the Society. The Society's Committee will present the trophy to the Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society member who has contributed most to the Society over the last year. It will presented to the winner on the final night of "Into The Woods".

Tickets are still available for the show. They can been booked by contacting the Strand Theatre Box Office at (051) 645050 or calling into the Box Office, which is open from 11am to 3pm.
