Will snow greet the Easter Bunny?
Ireland is bracing itself for the rare occurrence of a White Easter after the odds of snow on Sunday continued to fall this week following a flurry of bets!
BoyleSports customers seem convinced that the white stuff will arrive on Easter Sunday after original quotes of 11/2 were snapped up and eventually melted away to go odds-on at 8/11.
The five-day forecast at the start of the week raised the prospect of freezing temperatures, icy conditions and sleet in Ireland by Friday, while the UK Met Office said there was increased risk of wintry showers before the end of the week.
BoyleSports had quoted prices as big as 20/1 for snow to fall at Dublin Airport on Easter Sunday before the cold snap which brought widespread disruption to the country at the end of February.
Lawrence Lyons, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented “The clocks have gone forward but anyone hoping that spring has sprung have been let down with an avalanche of pessimistic weather reports.”
He added: “Bets on a White Easter have snowballed in recent days, enough for us to make it an 8/11 shot that snow falls this Sunday so we’ll be keeping our eyes on the skies and hoping that some of the more pessimistic forecasts are wide of the mark.”
