South Tipperary Arts Centre will host ‘A Midsummer Daydream’
The first ‘Crinniú na nÓg’ will take place across the country on Saturday, 23 June and there are some very exciting events happening in Tipperary.
‘Crinniu na nOg’ is an all Ireland day of youthful creativity which is part of the Creative Ireland Programme.
It encourages young people’s participation in culture and creativity through performance, theatre, art and music workshops and much, much more. Events are free and activity based; A day for ‘doing’, ‘ making ‘and ‘creating’, all you need is your imagination!
Tipperary County Councils Creative Ireland team is supporting events in 3 venues across the county for this year and hope to expand to other venues over the next 3 years.
South Tipperary Arts Centre will host ‘A Midsummer Daydream’ which sees the centre transformed into the magical fairy wood of the Shakespeare classic.
It begins in the morning with a special baby and toddler session followed by a session for children with sensory needs (booking essential for both see www.southtippartscentre.ie or call ).
From 12.30 to 4.30 the centre is open to all for a range of arts activities and there is a procession to the Main Guard at 5.30 for a dance workshop under the arches at 6pm. To top it all off there is a Midsummer ball (children’s disco) at 7pm upstairs in the Arts Centre.
Nenagh Arts Centre is hosting ‘Cirque Rí-Rá’ an afternoon of street entertainment, workshops and performance kicking off at 2pm with Street Entertainment followed by a Magic workshop at 2.30.
There will be a balloon modelling workshop from 3.30. Kablitz Entertainment will perform Out of the Box at 4.30 with a little help from members of the audience, in what promises to be an afternoon of creativity and fun.

Thurles Library are hosting a Family Funday from 11am to 4pm with a wide range of activities which include ‘Jelly Bean Julie’ between 11 and 12.30 with magic, ballooning and puppetry. ‘The Summer Reading’ challenge will be launched at 12 and between 12.30 and 4pm there will be 3 drumming workshop sessions with Fergal O Connor. Weather permitting ‘Masquerade Arts’ will do some pavement art on the boardwalk at 12 and arts and crafts will be available between 1pm and 9pm. ‘LearnIt’ will also host a series of engineering and robotics based workshops throughout the day which will be hands on but booking is essential for these workshops and further info is available on www.tipperarylibraries.ie or by calling 0761-06-6131
