Paddy O'Mahony will walk from Clonmel to Cork in memory of his father

Charity Walk

Paddy O'Mahony will raise funds for South Tipperary Hospice when he walks from Clonmel to Cork in memory of his late father Jimmy O'Mahony.

A Clonmel man is undertaking a walk to Cork to raise funds for South Tipperary Hospice in memory of his father, who passed away a year ago.

Paddy O'Mahony is taking on the walk to raise badly-needed funds for the Hospice to thank them for the support they provided to his family at a very difficult time.

His father Jimmy passed away in August 2017 and Paddy and his family are grateful for the kindness and support shown by the Hospice.

Paddy remembers his father talking with great fondness of  setting off to walk to Flower Lodge in Cork city to see Denis Law play and he wanted to do the same walk in memory of his father.

“It was something as a child that I remember him always talking about the walk he set off to Cork on with a friend to see a match, and I felt it would be nice to do the same walk” said Paddy.

Jimmy was from Davis Terrace and he worked in Ferryhouse and Burkes.

“The Hospice were very good to him and to our family, they do phenomenal work” said Paddy, who lives in Clerihan with his wife Laura and sons Joe and Dan.

His mother Carol and his family are all supporting him since he decided to take on the walk, which will take place between next Thursday, 19th and Saturday 21st July.

“People have been very generous to sponsor me  and I am very appreciative of all the support I am getting” said Paddy.
