National Parks & Wildlife Service investigates shooting of protected bird near Clonmel

The National Parks & Wildlife Service is investigating the killing of a protected bird of prey near Clonmel.

The long eared-owl was found shot dead in the Kilmanahan area on September 1.

Sean Breen, Conservation Ranger with the National Parks & Wildlife Service, said these brids are fully protected under the Wildlife Acts and the EU Birds Directive and it's an offence to shoot them.

He appealed to anyone with information that may assist their investigation to contact the National Parks & Wildlife Service at (01) 8882000.
