Food stall at Semple Stadium was closed down before it opened for business
Semple Stadium Management Commitee has pointed out that the food stall served with a closure order at the Feile Classical event at the stadium never actually opened and never served food.
The closure order came into effect before the stall, Bengal Indian Food Stall, opened for business.
Chairman of the Management Committee, Con Hogan, said that as part of the licencing process for the Feile Classical event at Semple Stadium, the Stadium management worked closely with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) to put a food safety plan in place for the event.
As part of the plan, officers from the Authority were present on site throughout the weekend to inspect all food outlets to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Mr Hogan continued - “Bengal Indian Food Stall were given permission to come on site to provide variety in the food offering, on the understanding that they would be compliant with the regulations and in the knowledge that they would be inspected by the FSAI.
“No food was served in the Stadium by the outlet due to the order issued by the FSAI and the Stadium management fully supports the action taken by them.
“Food is regularly served at Semple Stadium at games and events by its on-site catering contractor who maintains an ongoing professional working relationship with the FSAI to ensure the highest standards of food safety compliance are in operation at all events where the public are present”.
