"One for the Road" by Willy Russell (the author of Shirley Valentine, Blood Brothers and Educating Rita) will be presented in O'Keeffe's bar on Tuesday, 8th, Wednesday, 9th and Thursday, 10th February. This is a play not to be missed.
Directed by Rachael Culligan, this play features well-known actors from all over Clonmel. The cast of four comprises Dennis Cain (James Whelan) and his wife Pauline (Orla Delaney) who are later joined by Jane (Rachael Culligan) and Roger (Trevor Somers).
The setting is a bungalow in Castlehills, a fictional new middle-class housing development in the north of England. The cast await the arrival of Dennis' parents, lost in the warren of identical roads and bungalows, while discussing the wave of puerile vandalism that has inflicted, it seems mysteriously, all but the Cain's gardens.
The Parnes Kids are blamed for gnome decapitations, painted garden vegetables, Radox filled fountains and a Venus de Milo with arms stuck on it - but could the culprit be closer to home? And what is in Dennis' Queen Anne bureau?
Tickets are currently on sale from Hearns Hotel on 052-6121611 or 086-1061092.
