There was a wonderful joyful atmosphere at the Tipperary Golf Club senior citizens party with lovely food, great music and dancing and spot prizes for everyone. The place was buzzing with over one hundred senior citizens attending the party from Tipperary town and surrounding areas.
Lady Captain Lorla Collins was in charge of organising this year’s party.
“Every year the lady captain organises the party. It has been running since 1968 and all the ladies of the club and members give of their time. Our own caterers cook the diinner, others sponsor the food including the must-have turkeys and hams and other club members sponsor the prizes. The men members run a bar and and help with the moving of tables.” said Lorla.
Archbishop Dermot Clifford, who attended the party praised the organisers.
“There are very few golf clubs that hold similiar parties and the Tipperary Golf club have organised this for the last 29 years with great generosity and everyone enjoys themselves. There are no class distinctions in this area and everybody feels at home”, he said.
The senior citizens enjoyed punch on arrival, a beautifully cooked three-course meal and everyone received a present.
