St. Joseph’s Primary school has just put together its fourth Student Council whose aim is to better the school environment and development of its students.
Each month the council meet with Principal Louise Tobin to share ideas and work towards fundraisers within the school. Pupil Elaine O’Conner is joining the student council for the first time and has taken up position as the Secretary. “Some of the projects include fundraising events and I’d like to fundraise for new goalposts and school benches.”
Ellie McMinn, who loves doing gardening at home says she’d like to plan a gardening day to plant flowers and some trees for the school. Kate O’Brien was a member of the student council last year. “The best event last year was the school skipathon because there was lots to organise.”
Kirsty Lee Madden loved being together working as a team. Laura Merrigan proposed a sports week and Jade Freeman expressed that she’d like to organise a sixth-class play.
“I joined the student council because I like to discuss things,” said Rachel Murphy.
