GAA Family Fun Day
GAA family Fun Day was held on Sunday last in the GAA Field. What a great day it turned out to be – barbecue, tug of war, bouncy castles, juvenile matches, camogie, face painting, boys and girls cupcake competition, many more side shows. And the weather was only beautiful.

Famine 1848 Walk
This year’s Famine 1848 Walk takes places on Saturday, July 27, at 3pm. The Walk will be led by the well known public figure, Dr Martin Mansergh, one of the architects of the peace process. The Walk commemorates all those who died and emigrated during the Great Famine and the 1848 Rising which took place in Ballingarry in the middle of the Famine
. The Walk will begin at the Young Ireland and National Flag monument in The Commons and proceed to the Famine Warhouse, scene of the Rising, now part of the national heritage as a State museum. Dr Mansergh played a key role in saving the Famine Warhouse.
All are welcome to participate in the Walk or at the house. At the end of the Walk, light refreshments will be served from the tea room. The Walk takes place annually, hail, rain or shine, on the last Saturday in July, the day of the Rising. This parish occasion takes place this year as part of the Ballingarry Gathering.

The Annual Vintage Day will be held in Ballylooby (usual venue) on Sunday, August 25 (not July as mentioned last week). Always a great family day out. The organising committee will appreciate any new members and those willing to help will be very welcome. Further details from committee members.
Church Gate Collection
Ballylooby Ladies Club will hold their annual church gate collection in aid of the Senior Citizens Christmas Party this Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21, at Ballylooby Church.
The ladies had a very successful day Ttrp to Wexford in the summer sunshine on Saturday, July 6, which included a trip to J.F.K. Homestead in Dunganstown, The Dunbrody Famine Ship New Ross, 1798 Rebellion Centre Enniscorthy, and a family garden in Clonroche.
The day concluded with dinner in the company of Kevin Dundon, Dunbrody House Hotel, Arthurstown.

A meeting of Cahir and Clonmel Fianna Fail Comhairle Ceanntair will take place in Cahir House Hotel Cahir on Friday, July 19, at 8.30pm. This will be our first amalgamated cc meeting with our near neighbours Clonmel following the recent Local Election area boundary changes. This meeting is open to all members.

Liam Lynch Commemoration
The 90th Annual Liam Lynch commemoration will take place at the Liam Lynch Monument this Sunday, July 21. Assemble at the monument at 2.30pm.

Well done to our U14s on winning a blitz in Ballingarry, beating St. Mollerans, Ballingarry and Urlingford Emeralds. U13s: We beat Fethard in the first round of the U13 championship. They play Moyle Rovers in the second round this coming week. U12s Group B: We have qualified for the Mid Final v. Moyne or Clonakenny after our victory against Loughmore. The full time score was 1-11 to 2-04. Mid final is provisionally fixed for August 11. U12s Group D: Play their Mid Semi Final v Moyne Templetuhohy on July 23.
