Tipperary solicitor aims to expand women's medical negligence unit at firm

Tipperary solicitor Emma Meagher.

Boherlahan’s Emma Meagher says she is “honoured” with her appointment as a partner heading up the women’s medical negligence unit at James McSweeney Solicitors in Dublin.

Cashel Community School graduate Emma joined James McSweeney Solicitors in 2008, and says she has worked hard to establish the mother focused unit. “To see this recognised by my colleagues gives me great pleasure,” she tells The Nationalist.

Throughout her early years in the legal business, Emma developed and refined her keen interest in helping women who have suffered as a result of negligence during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.  As a result, in 2015, Emma established a dedicated mother-focused legal advice unit and has built a support team with a wealth of interest and experience specialising in obstetrics and the law.

A mother of two young boys away from work, Emma can be found most Saturday mornings watching football training at Wicklow Rovers and likes to spend afternoons with her family exploring the Wicklow countryside and beaches. She balances her busy work life with a love of cooking, literature, art and horse racing.

"I am looking forward to the next few years where I can hopefully expand this unit and share my experiences with other legal practitioners for the benefit of all women and their families that have suffered due to others negligence,” she adds.
