The Fine Gael party has postpone its Tipperary candidate selection convention for a week due to the snow and treacherous road conditions.
The convention was originally scheduled to take place this today (Sunday) Premier Hall in Thurles, starting at 4pm. Fine Gael Party Organiser for Tipperary Maurice Fitzgerald said the convention has been rescheduled to next Saturday, March 10 at the Premier Hall in Thurles with a start time of 7.30pm.
Seven candidates are vying to be selected as the party's candidate for Tipperary in the next general election. They are: Cllrs Michael Fitzgerald, Mary Hanna Hourigan and Michael Murphy, former North Tipperary TD Noel Coonan, Mary Newman, Garret Ahearn, Shelagh Marshall.
